"If Jane Austen characters used dating apps...": um vídeo da BBC Culture

Procura-se um Mr Darcy / In Austenland

"Obsessed with the BBC production of "Pride and Prejudice", a woman travels to a Jane Austen theme park in search for her perfect gentleman".

"Austenland (2013) is a romantic comedy about 30-something, single Jane Hayes, a seemingly normal young woman with a secret: her obsession with Mr. Darcy-as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice-is ruining her love life; no real man can compare. But when she decides to spend her life savings on a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-crazed women, Jane's fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have imagined". imdb

O que acharia Jane Austen de "As Cinquenta Sombras de Grey"? What would Jane Austen think about "Fifty Shades of Grey"?

Ora vejam:

Devotees of Jane Austen or  the Bronte sisters may wish to loosen their corsets and have the smelling salts within reach.
Some of the greatest works of English literature have been controversially ‘sexed up’ for the 21st century.
Following the success of erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey, one enterprising publisher has given classics such as Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights a bawdy makeover.

BBC lança jogo de Jane Austen no Facebook / Jane Austen Facebook game to be released by BBC

A ver vamos.

"BBC Worldwide has announced plans to bring the literary world of Jane Austen to life in a Facebook game.

Jane Austen's Rogues and Romance is an interactive game that follows the path of Pride and Prejudice characters Elizabeth and Mr Darcy after they are married.

Created by Legacy Interactive, the adventure game will involve players managing their position in Regency-era society by leaving calling cards, attending and hosting receptions, and pursuing courtships.

Each player will have their own manor house to manage, and they will be able to indulge their passion for fashion with a choice of various costumes".

Equação do romance de Enid: Jane Austen + sexo escaldante / Enid Wilson new novel equation: Jane Austen + steamy sex

Thanks Ana for hosting me today. I read some steamy posts on this blog and suggested to Ana that I would write about steamy Darcy.

I love Pride and Prejudice. About three years ago, I came across some steamy Pride and Prejudice fan fiction. Since then, I just couldn’t stay away from them. From a vivid reader to an obsessed writer, I’ve put my beloved Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet in many what-if scenarios. Martian Darcy, foul-mouthed Darcy, Dragon Darcy and so on. It was a fun ride.

One thing I haven’t tried before is writing a mystery. So I’m happy that I completed Fire and Cross, Pride and Prejudice with a steamy mystery twist:

The combination of a lethal blaze and a garnet cross have ensured that ever since he was a boy, Fitzwilliam Darcy’s future is promised to an unknown lady.

With danger looming from a suspected spy, and with murder close at hand, will Mr. Darcy cross paths with Elizabeth Bennet and win her affections? Mr. Darcy’s journey to overcome his pride and find eternal love in Pride and Prejudice takes on a mysterious twist.

This sexy what-if story, told from Darcy’s viewpoint, explores the demands of family members and other involved parties.

Below is an excerpt from Fire and Cross right after Mr. Darcy, my hot and steamy one, engaged to Miss Elizabeth Bennet:

Mr. Darcy sat down once again, very close to her, and pulled her hands into his again. “Miss Bennet, it is my greatest honour and pleasure to have you as my wife.”

She opened her mouth to say something but he was so happy that he could express himself as only a young man violently in love could. He lowered his head and kissed her.

Her lips were soft and tender. She tasted of tea and lavender. The delectable scent stirred him. Turning his head slightly, he touched her lips with his own. He felt her gasp slightly and heard her release a low moan.

His hands let go of hers and wandered to her waist. Pulling her closer to him, he could feel her lush bosom pressed onto his hard chest. He groaned in ecstasy as her soft form cleaved to his masculine shape. He put his mouth to her delicious earlobe and nibbled at her neck.

As he lowered his head to breathe in the aroma of her bosom, he would have pushed down the sleeves of her elegant evening gown had she not seized his hair.

The pull on his head startled him. He raised his eyes to her face and breathed deeply to calm himself. She had her eyes closed and her head rested on the chaise. How he wanted to teach her the pleasure of union! But he remembered her father’s words: Mr. Bennet was waiting for them to return to Longbourn.

Well, what do you think of this steamy Darcy? Tell me how dreamy you want your Mr. Darcy to act?

Thanks again Ana for hosting me today. I’m delighted to give out an ebook of Fire and Cross in pdf format and a lovely souvenir to one lucky reader. Please head over to http://www.enidwilson.com/ and register for news and leave a comment here. Warning: The novel and my site contain explicit adult content.

Contest is open to worldwide readers.

Big hugs from rainy Sydney, Enid.

Ele baixou a cabeça e a beijou.

Os lábios dela eram suaves e macios. Ela tinha sabor a chá e a lavanda. O odor delicioso o estimulou.

Thank you Enid for your enthusiasm and liking. It was my pleasure to have you writting for "The Dog who ate the Book" :)

Good luck with your book.

And we will always have Jane Austen. :))))

Enid Wilson vem ao 'Cão' apresentar o seu novo romance escaldante / The steamy prose of Enid Wilson is here!

Diz Stephen King no seu brilhante On Writing, p. 154:

Sometimes it’s beautiful and we fall in love with all that story, more than any film or TV program could ever hope to provide. Even after a thousand pages we don’t want to leave the world the writer has made for us, or the make-believe people who live there. You wouldn’t leave after two thousand pages, if there were two thousand. The Rings trilogy of J. R. R. Tolkien is a perfect example of this. A thousand pages of hobbits hasn’t been enough for three generations of post–World War II fantasy fans; even when you add in that clumsy, galumphing dirigible of an epilogue, The Silmarillion, it hasn’t been enough. Hence Terry Brooks, Piers Anthony, Robert Jordan, the questing rabbits of Watership Down, and half a hundred others. The writers of these books are creating the hobbits they still love and pine for; they are trying to bring Frodo and Sam back from the Grey Havens because Tolkien is no longer around to do it for them.

Sra. D. Língua Portuguesa que muito respeito).

A sequel is a work in literature, film, or other media that portrays events set in the same fictional universe as a previous work, usually chronologically following the events of that work. In many cases, the sequel continues elements of the original story, often with the same characters and settings.

Vem aqui apresentar o seu novo livro Fire and Cross.

É hoje, no próximo post, pelas 21 horas.

"I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a  book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library."

Rowling / J.K. Rowling's six favourite books

1. O livro preferido
Emma, de Jane Austen

"Virginia Woolf said of Austen, 'For a great writer, she was the most difficult to catch in the act of greatness,' which is a fantastic line. You're drawn into the story, and you come out the other end, and you know you've seen something great in action. But you can't see the pyrotechnics; there's nothing flashy".

 2. O escritor vivo preferido

Roddy Doyle

 3. Outro livro de eleição

Chéri, de Colette

E os livros preferidos da sua infância

4. The Little White Horse, de Elizabeth Goudge

"Goudge was the only one whose influence I was conscious of. She always described exactly what the children were eating, and I really liked knowing what they had in their sandwiches".

5. The Story of the Treasure Seekers, de E. Nesbit

"She's the children's writer with whom I most identify. She said, 'By some lucky chance, I remember exactly how I felt and thought at 11.' That struck a chord with me. The Story of the Treasure Seekers was a breakthrough children's book. Oswald is such a very real narrator, at a time when most people were writing morality plays for children".

6. Skellig, de David Almond

"It's the best children's book I have read recently".

"For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.”

 Virginia Woolf
